I once had to make a tough decision. Tom Robinson was an innocent man. He was being convicted for something that he didn’t do. I was his assigned lawyer. Up until now i had taken cases like rewriting a will and defending someone getting sued. But now I was expected to defend a negro when everyone was telling me not to. Some said I should just blow it off and do a poor job defending him. But I felt that if I were to ever want to have the respect from those I love and the respect of myself I needed to take the case. And that was the hardest thing I ever did.
