For my book I read Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan which is based in high fantasy and has multiple systems of magic. It follows several major main characters but I think the most important ones are Field Marshal Tamas, Tamas’ son Taniel, and Tamas’ investigator Adamat. The book starts out with Tamas overthrowing the current monarchy and the rest of the book follows the backlash of what happens because of that. For example one of their rival countries notices the quick shift in power and thinks this is the time to strike and starts a war with them. That is where Taniel’s story line takes him and he goes to fight on the front lines of the war. Adamat investigates the words that the dying royal sorcerers said to Tamas in hopes of finding something important. Honestly each story line was really enjoyable and set up a nice ending where things started to make sense but you also had more questions and it was perfect for the first book in a trilogy. I would recommend it to anyone who has read Mistborn or Way of Kings before because it has a very similar feel in both the multiple view points and also the sorcery.
