These past three terms I’ve ended with all A’s. In seventh and eighth grade I always got at least one B with all the A’s I was getting. I made it a huge goal this year to get a 4.0 and it’s been working out as planned so far! I really want to be better at test taking, I usually learn things really well but my brain always goes blank when it’s time for tests. I think just by really putting it as my main focus and working as hard as I can has helped so much! Not procrastinating is a really hard one for me because I always do!
I feel like when it comes to someone being courageous. My mom is always courageous and has the best integrity. No matter what is going on, she always gives me the best advice and she is always postitive with everything I do. Whatever is going on she is always brave and has courage to do it.
At first, I honestly didn’t think I was going to enjoy this book at all. I didn’t really understand it and it was super weird. As I got more into it, I tried my best to understand it and I started to really like it. It’s a really good book to read and it gives you a lot of different perspectives on so many things. I liked how it was in Scout’s perspective and how she was young and just looking it through her point of view. I ended up liking it a lot more than I thought and I think everyone should read it at least once.
On page 246 Miss Maudie is talking to Jem about the trial and how its going. She says “We’re making a step. It’s just a baby-step, but it’s a step.” I think it can be powerful because a lot of people like to go through life super fast and super busy and not even notice that they can be missing a lot of fun and important parts in their life. Like the trial, Atticus took it step by step and really thought deeply about all his decisions. Even if it feels like nothing huge is progressing, there is always something moving forward and getting better. I think Miss Maudie wanted to point out that they needed to be patient and not to worry.
I think a lot of the time people get caught up in what they are doing at that very moment so much that they don’t even stop to think about if its right or wrong. When Mr. Cunningham wanted to lynch Tom Robinson he probably just felt super angry and wasn’t looking at what the actual outcome would be. I feel like he is a good guy no matter what your decisions are. I think being a blind spot is when your not in the right state of mind with your emotions and how you feel so you are unable to think of the right or wrong things.
I think courage is having the ability to do something that scares you. Being able to push through what is holding you back in life. Courage is being able to fall down and get back up again no matter what life throws at you. Atticus shows real courage by standing up for what is right and knowing that no matter what happens he can keep going. Courage to me is being able to do things that you don’t normally do and even if it scares you, you still choose to keep pushing and getting past that. Courage is a really cool thing that comes easy for me.
I think what Atticus is trying to show is super brave of him. He is sacrificing everything for a man that everybody is against. At-least he is trying, it can show the case that blacks and whites should be equal because we are all the same. Atticus says he wouldn’t be able to worship God if he didn’t at-least try, this shows that Atticus believes there is hope and justice. I think it’s something worth fighting for, no matter the challenges he faces. Although it will be hard and he knows he wont win he wants to teach his kids a valuable lesson that you need to have courage and stand up for yourself and what you believe in, even if everyone is against you.
I think Atticus is trying to teach Scout a very valuable lesson. When he says “climb into another person’s skin” I think hes trying to tell scout that before you judge someone you should flip the situation and imagine if that was your life. Get to know them before you look at them differently for the way they live there life. Sometimes I will do this too, everyone has something they are going through. Look at it from a different perspective, people need to realize that it’s not always about them. This would be used perfectly for Maycomb because everyone assumes and judges other people so rumors start to spread!
I think “the belief window” is really cool. Every single person believes in something different, even when we believe in the same things, we all look at it differently. What you believe yourself, shows people who you are as a person. Even if we don’t realize it, our beliefs shape our actions everyday. As we get older, our beliefs shape us into the person we are and can help us benefit on the decisions we make. Sometimes the things we believe in can hold us back from a better outcome. I think a “belief window” is a really cool way of looking at things.
I know I fall into silly little habits, whether its cleaning my room only when I have time. Or always waiting till my mom tells me to do my chores. Some habits are really hard to get out of and some are easy just by trying and not being lazy. I wish good habits were easier to continue doing. I want to really try to keep my room and house clean. Sometimes I get a habit of being mean to my siblings and I don’t like it. I want to try to help out my mom, nothing big but just small things around the house. I am going to start by setting a schedule and see if that starts working.
