Burma is actually the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and it has a population of 53 Million.  The Capitol city is Nay Pyi Taw and it has a population of just under a million, the city of Yangon has a population of 4.5 million and has the highest population in Burma.  Buddhism is the primary religion of Burma and the main language is unsurprisingly Burmese.  Almost 25%  of the population is living in poverty despite having been the worlds largest exporter of rice in Asia at one point.  As far as healthcare goes HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, the neglected tropical diseases of Filariasis, Anthrax, Japanese Encephalitis, and Avian Influenza are all prevalent in Burma.  In 1948 Burma declared Independence from Great Britain, and the military took over in 1962.  The military held power until they finally gave it to the civilian government in 2011.
