Love Moderately

In Romeo and Juliet, Act 2 Scene 6 they are about to get married and Friar Lawrence gives Romeo and Juliet some advice for there marriage. He tells them to keep a moderate marriage, keep it in the middle of the road and don’t go to the extremes. Right before Friar Lawrence gives Romeo and Juliet this advice Romeo said that after him and Juliet get married that nothing bad can happen he dares dead to do his worst and Friar Lawrence thinks that is not true and disagrees and that is when he tells him that Romeo and Juliet need to keep a moderate marriage. I think that Friar Lawrence’s advice is great and that Romeo and Juliet need to listen to it.

I think hatred is a feeling that every person is born with, everyone always will seem to have a feeling of hatred against someone or something it seems like its part of how we live. I think hatred can start by many things like jealousy, anger or like they have done something rude to you maybe you’ve had a fight or just something didn’t go your way so you decide to hate someone. In Romeo and Juliet the family’s hate each other so much and Romeo and Juliet look past the hatred there family’s have had against each other for a long time, but yet they still end up dying in the end.

Should Schools Still Teach Shakespeare?

Should schools still teach Shakespeare? I think that Shakespeare should still be taught in our schools today. A lot of people think that all of his writing is just to old and that he was just an “old white British guy” that wrote confusing scripts for plays, but I think it is great to teach and read about the past and try to understand what it all means. Its cool to think of what the people in Shakespeare’s time would have like to read or go see a play about or what there lives would have been like. It is also great to step out of your comfort zone and read things that you wouldn’t normally read and Shakespeare’s writing s much different than books many of us read now.

What did I learn about people?

I learned a lot more about people through this assignment. Like what there family is like, what they like to do, there biggest goal in life is, what they might want to do for a job when they are older. I learned a lot more than what you would just learn from just looking at them and making assumptions like we usually do. This assignment has also taught me that it is good to look outside of what you might see. This assignment has taught me social skills I could use during a job interview and what I could do better.

What I don’t know…

I don’t know much about a lot of people in my class. I don’t know if all of them play sports or instruments. Or what their favorite class or their favorite teacher. I don’t know about their family’s and what they like to do in there spare time. If their busy or bored. If they are always early, late or right on time. I don’t know if they play video games or cook. I don’t know their favorite food to eat and their least favorite food.

Work Will Work When Wishy Washy Wishing Will Not

At the beginning of second semester I made a goal to get better at understanding the reading we did in class, do better at annotating papers with ROAM and Predict and read about 30-35 books. I think that this semester when we read articles and To Kill a Mockingbird I feel like I have been able to pay attention and understand the reading. My annotating with ROAM and Predict has gotten a lot better as well. I have read about 20 books this year and i’m getting close to getting more. My grade has gotten better since last semester and hope that last term goes well.Related image

What Makes a Person Great?

I think many people are great and that a lot of people have the potential to be great. I think that great people have many of the attributes that are in the poem “If-“ by Rudyard Kipling in 1865-1936. I really liked the part when it says “If you can meet Triumph and Disaster, And you can treat those two impostors just the same;” I like it because triumph can get to you and make you think your higher than others and disaster can ruin everything for you and you could loose things that are important, Rudyard Kipling is saying that you should treat them both the same even though they are opposites. I think that is a great attribute to have.

To Kill a Mockingbird Review

To Kill a Mockingbird, is all about a little girl named Scout and her family, Jem her older brother, her father Atticus, her best friend Dill, her neighborhood and everyone really in her town or close by. There are many twists and turns in this book that are very unexpected or surprising. In the book there are many life lessons taught many taught by Atticus, Scouts father. Many people say that everyone at some point should read this book, I agree I think it is a very good book it is a lot more exciting than I thought it would be. I think this book lived up to its reputation. I really like the way Harper Lee wrote this book because you kind of need to think more to get what it might be saying she doesn’t come right out and tell you what happens.

I didn’t really like the movie because it didn’t have everything the book had and it made it a little less exciting. I really liked the book a lot better than the movie but then again it would have been hard to put all of that into a two hour movie. So they did well with what they did put into it. My favorite part in the movie was the trial because I really liked that part int he book and it was fun to watch it. They left out a lot of the very important parts like Ms. Maudies house caught on fire. I really liked the book better though.

Good stuff

I think one of the most interesting things some one has said in this chapter is when Jem and Scout are in Jems room and Jem says that there are four types of people the ordinary kind, the Cunninghams, the Ewells and the blacks. Scout answers back to this with what I think is a very profound response “If there’s just one kind of folks, why can’t they get along with each other? If they’re all alike, why do they go out of their way to despise each other?” I think this is very important because it is that way there aren’t four types of people there is just one and for some reason they are trying to hurt each other when they are all just the same.

An Authority on Courage – Grandma Sandylee

Hello, my name is Sandylee and I’ve had to make tough decisions that I needed courage to take on. I think that to have courage you need to make a list of all the good and bad things that come from making that decision. You have to be okay with the bad things that come with it and have courage to take it and not regret it. You have to have courage to do things you might be uncomfortable with but after you make a decision you will most likely be very happy with the decision you’ve made.
