If anyone of these secrets gets uncovered it will mean bad news for whoever is hiding it. If the Germans find out that the Hubermans are hiding a Jew they will most likely send them to a concentration camp or execute them. If Mama finds out that Liesel has been stealing food she will no doubly get into trouble. But things like Liesel reading with the Mayor’s wife could have an interesting affect on the story because I do not think that Rosa or Hans would be mad if they found this out. I think that they would be more surprised and maybe think a little bit more of the Mayor and his wife. If a secret is kept to keep someone safe, than it is worth keeping the secret. Liesel is probably going to grow up being a super close kind of person, not trusting anyone.
