I do think, that since it was world war 2, almost everyone was keeping secrets in the first place, and it was justified, and sometimes necessary. But I don’t think it was healthy. The more secrets you keep the more emotions and feelings you have to keep bottled in. And I think that was the situation Liesel was in. It continuously says how she just wants to tell people all these things so bad but she knows she just can’t because telling those secrets have the potential to not only hurt her, but her family and the people around her too.
