This was after like a half an hour of looking at book covers. As you can see covers are important. It’s like a first impression and authors want to make a good one. However they want it to capture the personality of the book as well as being different to get high sales. Sales is one reason you can see as many as 4 different book covers for one book.
Book covers are important because it’s what makes you pick it up. When choosing a book without having heard of it first you pick it up because it looks good or like something that you want to read or something you’ve read before. We always say “don’t judge a book by its cover” referring to don’t judge someone or something by their looks; rather wait till you know what’s inside. Which is a nice sentiment but unrealistic. The moment you do anything you create judgement of some kind. Looks do matter but it’s not the only thing that does.
