Call to Personal Adventure

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Every day, I wake up and get ready. If it’s a school day, I get up at 6:45. I start getting ready for the day by making my lunch for school. After I get done with making it, I get dressed. Following that, I do my hair and makeup. That usually takes me about 15 minutes. Then I go to school and go to all my classes. After I get home, I do my homework. Then my parents get home and my family and I eat dinner. Then I do my nighttime routine and go to bed.

One thing that I feel that calls to me is London, England. I’ve always wanted to go to London someday. I dream about going almost every day and I imagine what I would do there. I love traveling and I’ve never been to Europe so going to London is at the top of my bucket list. I want to save my money to go when I’m older.

Something that holds me back from going is not enough money. I’m only fourteen, so I don’t have very much money. Especially to go to Europe. Another thing that holds me back is my parents. They are not interested in going to Europe and they would probably be the people that would take me. However, since they don’t want to go, I probably won’t be going anytime soon.

Someone that is helping me on my “adventure” is my brother in-law. He is going on a study abroad to Europe and He is going to London for a week. As a joke, I asked him if I could go with him. He said no which wasn’t a surprise. However, he encouraged me to keep saving up my money to go when I’m older. My mom also encouraged me to wait to go until I was older to enjoy it more.

A time I felt that I needed to make a change in my life was at the new year. I wasn’t very good at doing my homework when I got home from school. I decided to try to do my homework right as I got home and not watch TV shows or movies until I was done with all of my homework. It made me less stressed to get my homework done and I didn’t have to worry about it later in the day or at night. Then I wasn’t staying up super late doing homework. It helped me out a lot.

A time that someone pushed me to do something that I didn’t want to do was when my family and I went to Nepal for a humanitarian trip. I wasn’t that interested in going but my parents kept talking to me about it and they convinced me to go. I am really glad that I went. We helped people in a village  and I also met a lot of people and that was really fun. It was a once in a lifetime experience and I’m really glad that my parents pushed me to go. Just my parents parents were going to go at first, but their trip was delayed because of an earthquake. After that, they had the opportunity to take my sister and I and it was really fun.

Term 3

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Over Christmas break, I watched a bunch of Netflix and Psych. I did that for the beginning of the break when my parents were working and I didn’t have anything to do. For Christmas eve, all of my family came over and we played games and did the nativity. My grandparents left after that and my siblings and I played a bunch of games together until it was really late. On Christmas, we got up and opened our presents at my house and then we went over to our aunt’s house to open more presents and hang out.

I chose to read Insurgent for my term 3 book report. I chose my book because I read the first book of the series and I wanted to read the second one. Veronica Roth wrote my book. Insurgent is a book for teens. It says it on Amazon.

One new years resolution I have is to exercise regularly. I want to exercise for at least an hour a day. I don’t really exercise a lot so I wanted to do it more.

The poem I liked the most was the one called Me. I liked that poem because it talks about being yourself and not being anyone else. This poem is like me because I think it’s important to not be afraid to be yourself. It is related to my theme song because my song also talks about being yourself and standing out of the crowd.

This picture represents me because I’m usually really calm, but I sometimes get really mad and I’m not calm. Sometimes I will be really mad but I will not show it and try to be calm on the outside.

End of term 1

This term, when I read, I finished my book about a week before the book report was due. I thought I wouldn’t finish it on time at first, but I read more at home towards the end. I would have read more at home and make more of an effort to finish my book to change for next quarter.

It was easy to do my blog posts because there were instructions and I knew what to do. It was also hard because you only had one day to do them on most of them. I wish we wouldn’t have them as often because I feel like we did them almost every class period.

I liked the book report because the projects didn’t take a lot time to do. I didn’t like them because you had to present it in front of the class and you were under pressure. I forgot to do some parts of my report because I was nervous. I wish that we wouldn’t have so much to say for the book report because it was really hard to remember it all. If I had to do it over again, I would have written down what I wanted to say for the book report.

If I could start the term over, I would try to finish my book faster so I could read more books. I would keep doing my work and turn stuff in on time. I feel good now that the term is over because I have an A in the class.

In my book, The False Prince, there is a sword that is a copy of the sword that a prince uses in the book. The main character, Sage, steals the copy and it’s really important to the story in the end. Another object that is important to the book is a small piece of gold. The main character’s dad gives it to him when he’s really young and he carries it everywhere with him. The gold is the one object that convinces everyone that Sage is the prince and it solves the whole story.

On the cover of my book, there is a big picture of a broken crown. I think it symbolizes  that the main character once was a prince and he ran away and he changed his identity and everyone thought he had died. I think they were marketing towards boys more that girls because the cover is green and the main character is a boy. However, I really enjoyed it too and I think most girls would enjoy it too. Would I change anything about the book cover? I think I would have changed the object on the front to something that is in the book more and had more to do with the character and the book.

The theme in my book is basically that you have to make sacrifices to do the right thing. I know this because all throughout the book, the main character has to sacrifice himself physically and mentally. For example, Sage says does something that is the right thing to say, but he ends up getting whipped for it and he later gets cut in the back by a different person and he suffers a lot. This book teaches you a lot of things.

Plot Structure

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

In my book, The False Prince, the main plot structure is a quest. The main character is trying to win something that two other boys want. It also is a rivalry plot structure. In the book, a man named Conner rounds up 3 boys to impersonate the lost prince. The main character, Sage, does not want to be there and he wants to get away as soon as possible. The other two boys: Roden and Tobias feel threatened by Sage and want to beat him at all costs. Especially Tobias.

The main conflict of the book is that all three of the boys want the same thing, but only one person can have it. All three boys want to be picked to impersonate the prince. Though nobody has said it yet, they all know that the two people who don’t win will be killed. There are also some little conflicts throughout the book that haven’t all been solved yet.

My favorite part of the book so far was when the main character could not control a horse and it keeps running and running until someone can come and get him off the horse. The horse ends up running away and Sage doesn’t feel any remorse at all. I thought that part was funny.

In my book, The False Prince, the main character is named Sage. He’s very independent and he never wants help from anyone. There are 2 other characters named Tobias and Roden. All three of them are competing for something and Tobias really wants it and does not want Roden or Sage find out any of his secrets or tactics.

The most major character is Sage. A man named Conner has rounded up 3 boys for them to compete to fake being the prince. Sage does not want to be there and he really wants to leave but he knows that Conner will kill him if he tries to leave. Sage is known for his running away. He does enough to keep Conner from killing him, but not enough to be his favorite.

There are a few antagonists. One of them is Tobias and there is a man working for Conner named Cregan. He does not like Sage but he’s not a villain. He’s just not a very likable character. There’s not a big nemesis but Conner kind of seems like he could be. However, you get the feeling from him that he could be the good guy.

Main/Major: The character That the whole story centers around

Minor: The supporting characters

Static/Flat: The character that doesn’t undergo any personality change through the story

Dynamic/Round: The character that undergoes a dramatic change in personality or attitude.

Protagonist: The main character in any story

Antagonist: The character/characters that want to stop the protagonist from what they want.

Nemesis: The ultimate foe

Sidekick: A close companion or colleague

The setting of my book is set in a house clearly owned by someone rich. It started by a shop and it changed a few times until it ends up in the house. It changes around a little bit, but it mostly stays in the house and in the yard of the yard.

The time of year is hard to know because it has a king and a queen in it but that could be in a different country right now or it could be a long time ago somewhere more local.

So far in the book, it has been really warm most of the time. The characters move to different places sometimes and it has been pretty warm in most of those places. However, they are mostly inside and don’t get outside very much, but when they do go outside, it’s warm.

The mood in most parts of the book is really serious. There are some amusing parts of the book but it’s mostly serious and mellow. The atmosphere can be sad and kind of scary in some places but it can also be funny and amusing in some places.

Dear Mom and Dad, during the 20 minutes that we read in class, I read The False Prince. Out of those 20 minutes, I read 100% of the time. I read about 11 pages in that time. I have to read 259 more pages to finish my book. I usually read at school and at home, but sometimes I just read during school.

During class, I am on task and I’m working as hard as I can. I read a little bit slower that I usually do to understand the book better. I’m focused while we are reading and try to read as fast as I can and have it still make sense.

I have gotten exceeds mastery on every blog post I’ve written and plan to keep it that way. This is a picture of the front cover of my book.
