Shakespeare?

I think that we shouldn’t keep teaching Shakespeare. It’s old and outdated, and it doesn’t relate to today’s society. Some people find it a waste of time to learn about something that was written so long ago. Some people also may have reading disabilities or may just not be the best reader in the world. If these people try to read Shakespeare they could become discouraged and then just want to give up reading all together because Shakespeare is so difficult. Also some people think that learning stuff from a dead guy who was white isn’t exactly the best idea.

Everything I Know or Think I Know About Shakespeare

I know that Shakespeare uses really old fashion weird words. He wrote a lot of famous plays like Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Macbeth, The tempest, A Midsummer Night’s dream, Much Ado about nothing, and As you like it. I also know that when his plays were going on only men were allowed to perform so all Men and Women parts in the play were guys. I’ve read Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, The tempest, and Hamlet. I think that studying Shakespeare will be fun and boring at the same time. I know that some of his plays are amazing and that others, in my opinion, could use some work, but overall i’m excited to learn more about him.

Self-assessment

I think that being able to asses your own work is very important. We need to be able to understand by ourselves what is good and what is bad in out writing. When you are able to asses your own work you will be able to see what is wrong and what can go better. This can lead to better grades and more teachers will appreciate how hard you have been trying. If we want a good paying job in the future we need to understand what skills it will take to get the job. Sometimes we will need to be able to fix what we’ve done. Someone may become an architect and will need to look at their past work and understand what they can improve on in the future.

How I feel about To Kill a Mockingbird

Honestly I thought that the book was good but it was also boring. Some parts in the book were just so boring and it felt like it was never going to end. The message of the story was good, if something isn’t harming us and all it is doing is making life better, then we have no reason to harm it. When we first started to read the book my though process was, this is the worst book I have ever read, everyone old person says it’s such a good book but really it’s horrible. After we started to really get into it, I realized that the reason this book was written was yes for something to read, but also to show people the true meaning of equality. I think that everyone should read the book, so they can also understand that books are meant for more than just to have fun reading them. They are here to teach us a lesson and to help us understand the world better.

Good stuff from To Kill a Mockingbird

“If there’s just one kind of folks, why can’t they get along with each other? If they’re all alike, why do they go out of their way to despise each other?” -Scout

I think that this is well said because when people are the same they, as Scout said, go out of their way to despise each other. People don’t like when others are “exactly” the same as them. People have to find something that is different, they have to let you know that if you have the same opinion that their’s is better than yours. Once they put themselves out there like that they need to show everyone that they don’t like you for your opinion even though they think the same thing but yet it’s different.

An authority on courage and integrity

I chose my aunt

When we are faced with difficult decisions in life we don’t always know what to do. Sometimes we choose the easy way out, but other times we do what’s right. We face reality and take it head on. You will always have to make a decision, no matter what but once you choose, there is no going back. You need to choose what you believe is the right decision, don’t let others voices or opinions change yours. You are the only one who can make the choice. You are the only one who can make the change you need to. You are the only one who know’s how it will affect yours and others lives. You are the only one with the power to choose.

Blind Spots

I think that Atticus is saying that the men who came to lynch Tom are good honest people that just don’t yet understand why everyone should be treated the same. I think that it is possible to be someone who could want to do something terrible but still be a good person. Sometimes people just don’t understand everything in life. They misinterpret different situations. The men that wanted to kill Tom don’t yet understand that everyone is alike, no matter the color or our skin. This is their blind spot. When you don’t fully grasp a concept, the way you tell it to others may be the wrong way and so they won’t be able to fully grasp it either.

The end is halfway upon us

I think that I did a pretty good job this year. I’ve turned in most of my assignments in on time and have had an A almost the whole year in this class. I could improve on how much time I spend on homework. I usually try hard but sometimes I just get to lazy to try the hardest I possibly can. My independent reading has been going good. I read when I have time to read but I have a busy schedule so It doesn’t always happen. My goal this year is to have all A’s in every class, especially English. I’ve been turning in most of my homework in on time. To do better I could study harder and turn in all my homework on time.

Real courage

I think that the definition of real courage is being scared but still doing what you know is right. In Mrs. Harris room she has a poster that says, “Real courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyways” I think that we need to be able to show our courage no matter what. Sometimes we need courage to stand up to others, and sometime we need it for scary life situations that could hurt us. I think that my version of courage is not the same. I know that when I’m scared I don’t always have the courage to do what’s right. But I know that if I learn how to face my fears and use real courage it could impact my life and so many others.

Persistence

I think that it is always worth trying no matter what. Even if we know that we are going to loose we should always fight until the very end. If we don’t people may never think that we really can do it. We need to go into the fight trying to convince others into our cause. We need to make others believe as much as we do. Not only do we need to get the to believe we need to show them that we will never give up, no matter what. I think that it’s good what Atticus is doing. Even though his family is getting ridiculed and mocked they are learning what courage is. They will learn how to fight until the end and how to not loose their temper.
