Good stuff from To Kill a Mockingbird

“If there’s just one kind of folks, why can’t they get along with each other? If they’re all alike, why do they go out of their way to despise each other?” -Scout

I think that this is well said because when people are the same they, as Scout said, go out of their way to despise each other. People don’t like when others are “exactly” the same as them. People have to find something that is different, they have to let you know that if you have the same opinion that their’s is better than yours. Once they put themselves out there like that they need to show everyone that they don’t like you for your opinion even though they think the same thing but yet it’s different.

An authority on courage and integrity

I chose my aunt

When we are faced with difficult decisions in life we don’t always know what to do. Sometimes we choose the easy way out, but other times we do what’s right. We face reality and take it head on. You will always have to make a decision, no matter what but once you choose, there is no going back. You need to choose what you believe is the right decision, don’t let others voices or opinions change yours. You are the only one who can make the choice. You are the only one who can make the change you need to. You are the only one who know’s how it will affect yours and others lives. You are the only one with the power to choose.

Blind Spots

I think that Atticus is saying that the men who came to lynch Tom are good honest people that just don’t yet understand why everyone should be treated the same. I think that it is possible to be someone who could want to do something terrible but still be a good person. Sometimes people just don’t understand everything in life. They misinterpret different situations. The men that wanted to kill Tom don’t yet understand that everyone is alike, no matter the color or our skin. This is their blind spot. When you don’t fully grasp a concept, the way you tell it to others may be the wrong way and so they won’t be able to fully grasp it either.

The end is halfway upon us

I think that I did a pretty good job this year. I’ve turned in most of my assignments in on time and have had an A almost the whole year in this class. I could improve on how much time I spend on homework. I usually try hard but sometimes I just get to lazy to try the hardest I possibly can. My independent reading has been going good. I read when I have time to read but I have a busy schedule so It doesn’t always happen. My goal this year is to have all A’s in every class, especially English. I’ve been turning in most of my homework in on time. To do better I could study harder and turn in all my homework on time.

Real courage

I think that the definition of real courage is being scared but still doing what you know is right. In Mrs. Harris room she has a poster that says, “Real courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyways” I think that we need to be able to show our courage no matter what. Sometimes we need courage to stand up to others, and sometime we need it for scary life situations that could hurt us. I think that my version of courage is not the same. I know that when I’m scared I don’t always have the courage to do what’s right. But I know that if I learn how to face my fears and use real courage it could impact my life and so many others.
