I feel like if Atticus feels it would be the “right” thing to do to defend the case then he should do it even if he’s gonna loose. If it truly isn’t the black man’s fault then Atticus should sacrifice nearly anything for what he believes in. I think that is Atticus is willing to risk his reputation and reputation of his family to defend the black man then it shows how caring and strong Atticus is. I think if it’s morally the right thing to do then Atticus should risk his family. I really like how Atticus doesn’t care what others think as long as he’s doing the right thing nothing else matters.
The book isn’t a bad book but not a super great one either. I’ve read better books and so I’m kinda wondering what about the book is so great to make everyone is the U.S. read it. I do like how the book is somewhat realistic. I think something will happen with Boo later on in the book that’s like really good and whatever that is makes the book a whole lot better. Right now in the book I don’t think it lives up to the hype. Nothing too exciting has happened. I expect to actually see what boo looks like later on in the book.
In the book I think what Atticus means by you should climb into other people’s skin is not literally climbing into their skin but sincerely understanding and feeling the same way someone else does. Not only will this help Scout get along with others but I think it’s a good message for all of us. It will help scout get along with others when she starts actually understanding others and not judging them before she knows their situation. Sometimes I see somebody I don’t even know and judge tthem but I have to remember I don’t know their situation maybe their going through a hard time. But when I take the time to get to know them and walk in their shoes and get a feel for how they feel I end up making a new friend. I think if we all took the time to walk in the shoes of someone else we could make new friends.
Empathy to me is understanding and showing that person you feel the same. People need to have empathy for others because everyone needs some help and someone that can relate to them some point in life. A few months ago I was friends with someone and then realized they weren’t the best friend and person to be around and so a group of people had also had the same experience with them and reached out to me and helped me get out of that situation. To me that’s what empathy is. Understanding and acting like you understand. Because of what that group did for me it makes me want to have more empathy for others.
I can’t really remember what assignments we did last semester but I did pretty good at getting everything in on time. I think I need to work more on putting more effort into the assignments and not just do it as fast as I can and not worry about how well it was done. I could use a lot of work on essays and how to write a good essay. Some goals I have are to spend more time on the essays to make sure they’re done well and one time. I will do that by working on them at home and really focusing on them.
I think the design thinking process is good and well thought of process to see what the people want to see and how they want to see it as well as how to make your product something they will like. I was thinking that the reason we started using this process in English class is because it helps us to see what our classmates want to learn and how they want to learn it so one day when we’re in the real world and possibly thinking of making a product to sale or even just teaching anyone in general we know how to do that. It is a very useful process.
I believe it is our responsibility to promote change. If we notice something wrong with perhaps the government and how we are being treated we should be able to say how we feel but in a way that doesn’t cause any harm to anyone or anything. We are lucky to be able to have the freedoms here in America to show how we feel unlike other countries that don’t have that right. I do think if someone is destroying anything or hurting anyone showing how they feel then that shouldn’t be allowed. Overall I do think it’s a good idea to let people show how they feel in a way that doesn’t harm anything.
I can’t wait for thanksgiving! No school is the best part! We usually have all my family from out of town stay at my house and some of them are annoying so I’m a very recluse person when they come to stay. Most of the time my mom and older sisters make thanksgiving dinner. Even though most of the food is repugnant I’m still forced to eat it so I don’t make anyone feel bad. After dinner me and one of my sisters have to clean up the dishes while all the adults relax and talk and it’s not fun at all. Anyways I’m excited to have 3 days off of school!
The book that seemed the most interesting to me was The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. It drew my attention because I’ve seen the movie and usually the book is better than the movie. Some things mentioned in reviews are: well written book, makes you cry, funny and tragic, good message, and recommended to junior high/ high school students and adults. Many reviews say how it portrays what it’s like to live with cancer. One review says how it has very good life lessons. I think readers that enjoy realistic/romance books would most likely love this book. Overall seems like a book I would be interested in reading.
To me equality means everyone has same everything and I don’t think it’s possible for everyone to be equal. That means everybody gets paid the same even if one person is doing more work than the other. I think that isn’t how life should be. It also means nobody can be higher than another which I also think is impossible. In the declaration of independence the equality talked about is mostly that all people are treating equal. I think that means everyone is treated the same, just because one person may have more money that doesn’t mean they’re given more rights. I really don’t know what kind of equality I would like to see.
